The East Mountain Timberwolves are taking a road trip to square off against the Sandia Prep Sundevils at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. East Mountain will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
East Mountain proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by 20) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past New Mexico Military Institute 3-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Cole Darnell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up 14 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, East Mountain saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rylen Radosevich, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sandia Prep). Everything went their way against Bosque on Thursday as they made off with a 21-10 win. With that victory, the Sundevils brought their scoring average up to 6.9 runs per game.
Matteo Herrera was a standout: he scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Logan Lemons was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
Sandia Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
East Mountain's win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Sandia Prep, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. East Mountain hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. However, it's not like Sandia Prep struggles in that department as they've averaged .316. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
East Mountain beat Sandia Prep 4-0 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Do the Timberwolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Sundevils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
