Broad Street (Shelby, Miss.) grabbed the lead when they ran for a touchdown with 3:00 left in the fourth quarter and held on to beat
Kennedy (Mound Bayou, Miss.) 14-8 on Saturday. The score was the final lead change in a back-and-forth contest that featured two lead swaps.
After nabbing the lead on a two-point conversion, the Hornets went into halftime with a 8-6 lead. The Jaguars scored the winning points with a touchdown run that came in the fourth quarter.
Kennedy's only touchdown came on a 25-yard pass from
Ladaris Johnson to
Ricky Fleming in the second quarter.
Broad Street entered the contest giving up 18.7 points per game this year. BS held firm on the defensive front, and kept Kennedy well below the 35.4 points it had been averaging per game.
The victory was a completely different match up compared to last season's game between these two teams, which KHS took, 31-6.
The defeat comes as a step back for Kennedy, which notched a 44-6 victory over Durant in its previous outing.
