Softball Recap: Quitman Wins Going Away Against Holden

Quitman barely beat Holden the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wolverines blew past the Rockets 17-5 on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wolverines also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2023.

Cali Deal was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Quitman got a big performance out of Zoee Williams, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits Williams has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Hallie Kate Pullig, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Quitman and bumps their season record up to 20-10. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Holden, they dropped their record down to 14-16 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Quitman will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Rockets: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled on Saturday.
