Weston Ranch hasn't had much luck against Bear Creek recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Cougars will square off against the Bruins at 4:00 p.m. Weston Ranch is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Weston Ranch was handed a ten-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 win over McNair.
Treshia Garcia made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off six hits. Garcia was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Cianna Avamolifua was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Baylee Santiago, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Bear Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of Tokay. The match marked the first time this season in which the Bruins were not able to get on the board.
Bear Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 15-4. As for Weston Ranch, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-10.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Weston Ranch hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Bear Creek struggles in that department as they've averaged .380. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
