The Hawthorne Hornets extended their postseason success on Saturday against the Newberry Panthers. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Panthers  and snuck past  76-74. The  win was nothing new for Hawthorne as they're now sitting on 12 straight.
  CJ Ingram was  his usual excellent self,  dropping  a double-double on 31 points and 11  rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which  he has scored at least a third of Hawthorne's points. The team also got some help courtesy of  Leland Johnson, who  scored 19 points along with six  rebounds and two  steals.
 Newberry's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Henry Mathias, who  scored 22 points. Another player making a difference was  Kaleb Woods, who  scored 16 points.
 Hawthorne has  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won 13 of their last 15 games,  which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record  this season. As for Newberry, their loss dropped their record down to 15-8.
 Hawthorne's road trip will continue as they head out to face Fort White at 7:00  p.m.  on February 15th. Hawthorne has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 293 points over their last four matches. Newberry is on the road again  on Thursday and plays Hilliard at 7:00  p.m.  on February 15th. Hilliard will roll in looking for their  16th straight  win, something Newberry surely won't give up without a fight.
