Edina is 1-9 against St. Michael-Albertville since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Hornets will welcome the Knights at 6:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Edina had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Minneapolis Southwest on Monday. The Hornets were the clear victors by a 12-5 margin over the Lakers. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Lakers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Reid LaFrenz made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other pitching news, Edina got a great performance from Will Grandberg as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave Grandberg a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Chase Bjorgaard, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lincoln Page, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Edina was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, St. Michael-Albertville waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Elks by a score of 11-6. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 23, 2022, but that streak is no more.
Wes Byer looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched.
At the plate, Ashton Crank was incredible, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Grady Johnson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
St. Michael-Albertville's victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Edina, the victory got them back to even at 6-6-1.
