Del Norte is 2-7 against Mission Hills since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Del Norte Nighthawks will head out on the road to challenge the Mission Hills Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, Del Norte was able to grind out a solid victory over Ramona, taking the game 61-53. Given Del Norte's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 285th, while Ramona is ranked 696th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Mission Hills waltzed into their game on Friday with 11 straight wins but they left with 12. They put the hurt on San Marcos with a sharp 65-44 victory. Mission Hills has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 21 points or more this season.
Del Norte's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-10. As for Mission Hills, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-6.
Del Norte lost to Mission Hills on the road by a decisive 63-45 margin in their previous meeting back in January of 2022. Can Del Norte avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
