Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Phoenix). They greeted the New Year with with a 73-54 victory over the Cottage Grove Lions. The Pirates have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lions, too.

Phoenix's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-5. As for Cottage Grove, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Phoenix will welcome Hidden Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cottage Grove, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Newport at 5:45 p.m. Newport knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Cottage Grove likes a good challenge.
