The Broughton Capitals will face off against the Millbrook Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Broughton has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with five straight losses, while Millbrook will come in with four straight wins.
Broughton lost 21-12 to Rolesville on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (ten), the Capitals still had to take the loss.
Avery Troxell was cooking despite her team's loss, going 4-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Caroline Bradbury was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Millbrook had just enough and edged out Wake Prep Academy 13-12 on Monday. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by just one run.
Millbrook's victory was truly a team effort as eight different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Emerson Myers, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most RBI Myers has posted since back in April of 2025. Another was Avery Edwards, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Millbrook kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive games.
Broughton's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Millbrook, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
Millbrook's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Broughton has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.3 hits per game. It's a different story for Millbrook, though, as they've been averaging 12.5 hits. Given Broughton's sizable advantage in that area, the Wildcats will need to find a way to close that gap.
Broughton was able to grind out a solid victory over Millbrook in their previous meeting back in February of 2025, winning 8-3. Will the Capitals repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
