Even though Owasso has not done well against Union recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Owasso came out on top against Union by a score of 65-52. Given Owasso's advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while Union is ranked 54th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Jalen Montonati, who scored 35 points along with six rebounds. The match was his sixth in a row with at least ten points. Cody Lechlider was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Putnam City pushed their score all the way to 56 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They received a tough blow as they fell 71-56 to Charles Page.
Owasso's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. As for Putnam City, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.
Owasso couldn't quite finish off Putnam City in their previous meeting back in December of 2019 and fell 49-47. Can Owasso avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
