The Rio Hondo Bobcats will be playing at home against the Lyford Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
After a string of four wins, Rio Hondo's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were the victim of a rough 39-14 defeat at the hands of San Diego. Rio Hondo was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 24-0.
Meanwhile, Lyford can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent match on Thursday. They blew past Progreso 71-0 at home. The win made it back-to-back wins for Lyford.
Adrian Chavez looked great while leading his team to the win, rushing for 117 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Olivas, who threw for 87 yards and two touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes.
Rio Hondo's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Lyford, their victory was their sixth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-1.
Rio Hondo didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Lyford in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, but they still walked away with a 20-14 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Lyford's Osmar Martinez, who rushed for 263 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries.
