Last Friday, Santo was beaten by Collinsville 47-10. While losing is never fun, Santo can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1033rd, while Collinsville is ranked 353rd).
Collinsville was led to victory by Logan Jenkins and Colin Barnes. Jenkins threw for 311 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.4 yards per attempt, while Barnes picked up 153 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Jenkins hasn't dropped below 300 passing yards for five straight games. Landon Carpenter was another key contributor, picking up 53 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
This is the second loss in a row for Santo and nudges their season record down to 2-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 8.5 points per game. As for Collinsville, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.
Santo will head out on the road to face off against Celeste at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Collinsville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Muenster at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Muenster is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
