AAAAAA Region 3 recap November 13, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Tri-Cities, who defeated 137th ranked Douglas County, 41-31.
Hughes added to the longest winning streak in AAAAAA Region 3 this week by beating Westlake, 30-0. The win marks ninth in a row for the the Panthers.
Malik Olvier was a passing and rushing force as the Tigers lost to the Bulldogs. He completed 10 passes for 160 yards and 1 touchdown and also ran for 62 yards. Olvier's favorite target this week was Kenny McMillian, who caught 5 passes for 94 yards.
McMillian was the best wideout in the league this week as Douglas County fell to Tri-Cities. McMillian racked up 5 receptions for 94 yards. Travis Beaird helped Douglas County's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 44 yards.
On the heels of Kinan Humphrey and Keion Davis, Hughes has had great success on offense. Humphrey leads the league in passing with 1,288 yards, while Davis has rushed for 1,412 yards this season. Jason Respert's team's Justin Bridges leads the league in receiving yards with 417 on 24 catches.
Kenneth Miller's team moved up to 163 from 193 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Bulldogs climbed the ranks as a result of topping the Tigers 41-31.
