Football Recap: Plainview Skates Past Stanton with Ease

After losing to Stanton the last time they met, Plainview decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Pirates blew past the Mustangs 52-8 on Friday. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by 24 points or more this season.

A big part of Plainview's win came down to the chemistry between Gage Walton and his top target Kobe Maertins. Walton gained 145 total yards and two touchdowns while Maertins threw for 234 yards and three touchdowns. Walton is also on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last four games he's played.

The victory (which was Plainview's fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-1. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.8 points on average over those games. As for Stanton, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Looking ahead, Plainview will face off against Lutheran-Northeast at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Stanton, they will challenge Laurel-Concord-Coleridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
