The Savio Eagles struggled with assists on Friday (the Hyde Park Panthers had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Savio was outmatched by the Panthers on the road and fell 54-24. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Savio has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Savio lost, one person who can't be blamed is Matthew Blood. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. Blood is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last seven games he's played.
Knox Riemondi was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with four steals and two blocks for Hyde Park. It was the first time this season that Riemondi posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Jones, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Savio has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season. As for Hyde Park, their victory bumped their record up to 11-15.
Savio will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Crusaders at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in St. Michael's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 19 games. As for Hyde Park, they will head out on the road to challenge the Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Regents presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Panthers in Texas (the Knights are ranked 397th, while the Panthers are ranked 1006th).
