Basketball Recap: Towers Takes a Loss

Towers was the 69-58 winner over Business Engineering Science Tech when they last played one another back in November of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Towers Titans were dealt an 85-54 loss at the hands of the Business Engineering Science Tech Eagles on Tuesday.

Despite the loss, Towers still got an impressive performance from Jalen Kelly, who posted 14 points and three steals. Kelly has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Cornelius Winfrey was another key player, putting up eight points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Towers smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Business Engineering Science Tech was led to victory by Jacob Mickell and Joshua Mickell. Jacob dropped a double-double on 27 points and 12 rebounds, while Joshua went 11 of 22 on his way to 25 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicholas Dozier, who had 13 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Towers' defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Business Engineering Science Tech, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-2.

Towers and Business Engineering Science Tech should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings. Towers (ranked 166th) will meet Clarkston (ranked 559th) at 2:30 p.m. on December 30th. Towers is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 67.9 points per game this season. Similarly, Business Engineering Science Tech (ranked 74th) will meet North Clayton (ranked 379th) at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
