The Oswego Panthers will square off against the Bolingbrook Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Oswego has six straight wins, Bolingbrook has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Oswego came out on top against Carmel on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run third inning. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Corsairs. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 20 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Jaelynn Anthony was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Anthony was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Oswego let Aubriella Garza and Kiyah Chavez run wild. Garza fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-2, while Chavez went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two doubles. That's the most runs Garza has posted since back in April. Rikka Ludvigson was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Bolingbrook was a bit more limited in their contest on Monday. They came up short against Yorkville, falling 11-1.
Bolingbrook saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Karina Choi, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Oswego's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 27-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bolingbrook, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-21.
Oswego took their victory against Bolingbrook in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 21-0 score. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
