After two games on the road, The Meadows School is heading back home. They will take on the Moapa Valley Pirates at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully The Meadows School is not getting complacent considering they own a much higher rank in Nevada (they are ranked 19th, while Moapa Valley is ranked 72nd).
Last Wednesday, The Meadows School didn't have too much trouble with Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas on the road as they won 51-34.
The Meadows School's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Uzo Nwapa led the charge by scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nwapa has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Cyrus Hutchison, who scored nine points along with six assists.
Meanwhile, Moapa Valley's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight defeat. They fell 64-53 to Eldorado.
Moapa Valley's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Brigham Whitmore, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds, and Bryson Walker who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Jaxson Bunker was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Even though they lost, Moapa Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eldorado only pulled down five offensive rebounds.
The Meadows School is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. As for Moapa Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 8-17-1.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: The Meadows School have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 24.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Moapa Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
The Meadows School didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Moapa Valley in their previous matchup back in December of 2019, but they still walked away with a 73-68 win. Will The Meadows School repeat their success, or does Moapa Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
