The Warren County Wildcats had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 65-54 win over Brentsville District on Friday. This was payback for Warren County, who suffered a 78-66 loss the last time these two teams met.
Warren County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Marshall Barton out in front who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcellis Diamond, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds.
Warren County's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-5. As for Brentsville District, their defeat was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-8.
Warren County will head out on the road to face off against Luray at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Luray presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Warren County in Virginia (Luray is ranked 151st, while Warren County is ranked 341st). Brentsville District will be home for the holidays to greet Fauquier at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
