Fairview is a perfect 6-0 against Harpeth since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Yellowjackets will host the Indians at 7:00 p.m.
Fairview is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Sycamore just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They and the War Eagles were almost perfectly matched up, but they suffered a 31-30 defeat.
Although Fairview took the loss, they still got scores from Bryson Harrison, Julius Carter, Kentrell Harrison, and Gage Proctor.
Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 3.4 yards per carry. The team can thank Proctor for the heroic effort on defense: he. Fairview didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 9.1.
Fairview didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Proctor picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Harpeth). They walked away with a 21-8 victory over Stewart County on Friday.
One reason for the win was Harpeth's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Ziyan Cook and Kaiden Burgess, who racked up five sacks between them. John Neely was another major factor on D, making nine total tackles and defending four passes in addition to snagging an interception.
Harpeth's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Fairview, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided in the trenches. Fairview has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 248.7 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Harpeth, though, as they've been averaging only 90.2 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Everything went Fairview's way against Harpeth in their previous matchup back in October of 2020, as Fairview made off with a 40-14 victory. In that game, the Yellowjackets amassed a halftime lead of 33-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
