Jefferson faced Spring Mills in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Cardinals. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Jett Gross looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Braedon Oviedo, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. Nayan Dominguez was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Jefferson's record now sits at 9-1. As for Spring Mills, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-3.
