The Highland Scots will square off against the Tehachapi Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Highland will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Highland made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Centennial, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Highland was the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Centennial on Monday. Considering the Scots have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Janaye Phillips was a standout: she scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Madelyn Gonzalez was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Highland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, the third road game was the charm for Tehachapi, as they earned their first road win of the season. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Bakersfield on Tuesday, sneaking past 6-4.
Tehachapi got a big performance out of Aidan McIrvin, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Wilsted, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2.
Highland's victory bumped their record up to 8-1-2. As for Tehachapi, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Tehachapi's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Highland hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .384. It's a different story for Tehachapi, though, as they've only averaged .224. Will they be able to contain Highland's hitters?
Highland was able to grind out a solid victory over Tehachapi in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 7-2. Does Highland have another victory up their sleeve, or will Tehachapi turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
