This season hasn't been kind to the Southwestern Spartans, who are still winless after their fifth contest. The matchup between Southwestern and Waldron wasn't particularly close, with Southwestern falling 57-40. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Southwestern in their matchups with Waldron: they've now lost seven in a row.
Waldron's win on Saturday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Parker Douglas, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Douglas scored 15 or more points. Lucas Shaw was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Southwestern's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Waldron, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-3.
Southwestern will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Morristown at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Waldron will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Herron at 11:00 a.m. on December 28th. Herron is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
