The Colleton County Cougars waltzed into their contest on Friday with four straight wins but they left with five. They skirted past Bluffton 50-48. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Colleton County has posted yet this season.
Mykeem Gant was his usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Brian Hamilton, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Bluffton lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Brandon Bryant, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Carnell Warren, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds.
Colleton County pushed their record up to 12-6 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Bluffton, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.
Colleton County will head out on the road to square off against Lucy Beckham at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bluffton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against May River at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
