The South Fremont Cougars are taking a road trip to square off against the Teton Timberwolves at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
South Fremont came up short against Sugar-Salem on Thursday, falling 22-13. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Lexi Peebles and Leah Lehmann did some serious damage despite the final result: Peebles got on base in four of her five plate appearances with seven stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI, while Lehmann got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Zuri Tavarez also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Teton came tearing into Monday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 10-6 victory over the Diggers.
Kadence Hansen was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Kara Webster, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.
Teton pushed their record up to 12-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for South Fremont, their loss dropped their record down to 8-11.
Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. South Fremont has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .474. However, it's not like Teton struggles in that department as they've averaged .545. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
South Fremont might still be hurting after the 13-2 defeat they got from Teton when the teams last played on Tuesday. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
