While the debate for who's No.1 might not be settled until the end of the season, the debate between Nos. 2 and 3 comes to a head this week as IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) comes west to face Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.).
The two squads, who many think can lay claim to the No. 1 spot in the nation, sit second and third, in this week's composite Top 25 rankings behind top dog St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.). The Braves face a 5-0 JSerra (Gardena, Calif.) on Friday, but the eyes of the prep football world will be on the Mater Dei-IMG battle.
St. Joseph's Prep was the week's biggest mover, jumping to No. 10, a leap of 14 places, after a 34-27 win over Our Lady of Good Counsel (Olney, Md.).
Only schools recognized by two or more media outlets are eligible for
inclusion in the composite rankings. Teams were assigned a score of 40
for each media outlet that did not recognize them as part of their Top
25, rewarding teams that received consensus acclaim.
