It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Jesuit Blue Jays had no problem doing just that on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 23-2 margin over Byrd. Given Jesuit's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Byrd is ranked 95th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jesuit has yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 5-6 record. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 26.7 points per game. As for Byrd, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
Jesuit will face off against Holy Cross at TBD on Friday. Byrd does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
