Softball Recap: Bishop Diego Has No Trouble Against Valley Christian Academy

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Bishop Diego brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They were the clear victor by a 23-7 margin over the Valley Christian Academy Lions on Thursday. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by 14 runs or more this season.

Anna Fittipaldi was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four). She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all six of her plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Keke Flores was incredible, scoring four runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Natalie Rodriguez was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Bishop Diego always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .708. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Bishop Diego moved to 5-3 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Valley Christian Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop Diego will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Foothill Tech at 3:30 p.m. on April 1st. As for Valley Christian Academy, they will square off against Shandon at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
