Softball Recap: Cedar Ridge Extends Winning Streak to Four

Cedar Ridge waltzed into their match on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Southern Alamance Patriots. The Fighting Red Wolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

Cedar Ridge let Kimber Shambley and Brittani Goddard run wild. Shambley went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Goddard went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Goddard a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Raegan Remaly, who scored three runs and stole two bases.

Cedar Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Cedar Ridge's win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Southern Alamance, they dropped their record down to 8-9 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.

Coming up, Cedar Ridge will head out on the road to face off against Falls Lake at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Firebirds will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for Southern Alamance, they will take on Orange at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
