Edinburgh and North Decatur are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Lancers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Chargers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Edinburgh has three straight wins, North Decatur has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
While Edinburgh didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against South Decatur on Friday as they made off with a 14-4 victory. Considering the Lancers have won five games by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Kenna Streeval made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Shyla Watt was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Adalynn Ramey was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Edinburgh was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .303 or higher in six consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for North Decatur's offense. They lost 14-0 to Greensburg on Tuesday. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Chargers were not able to get on the board.
North Decatur's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Edinburgh, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
North Decatur's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Edinburgh has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for North Decatur, though, as they've been averaging only 3.4 strikeouts. Will Edinburgh keep running through batters, or will the Chargers buck the trend?
Edinburgh might still be hurting after the 17-5 loss they got from North Decatur when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Lancers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
