The Grace Academy Knights have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell to GVCS Broadfording 69-65. Grace Academy has struggled against GVCS Broadfording recently, as their game on Friday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Grace Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Peter Ciardiello and Carson Feeser. Ciardiello dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Feeser scored 25 points along with two steals. That was a full 33.8% of Grace Academy's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Ronan Casey was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
GVCS Broadfording's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brandon Monroe led the charge by dropping a double-double on 28 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Monroe has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Daniel Cartwright, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds.
Grace Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for GVCS Broadfording, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-15.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grace Academy will challenge Calvary Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. GVCS Broadfording won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Mountain Ridge at 2:00 p.m. on January 13th. Hopefully Mountain Ridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 last Friday.
