The Mary G. Montgomery Vikings will be playing in front of their home fans against the Dothan Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Mary G. Montgomery put another one in the bag two weeks ago to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 56-0 win over Robertsdale at home. Given Mary G. Montgomery's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked tenth, while Robertsdale is ranked 224th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jared Hollins was his usual excellent self, throwing for 366 yards and six touchdowns while completing 78.9% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of James Bolton, who picked up 108 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Dothan entered their tilt with JAG with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Dothan took their match at home on Thursday with ease, bagging a 57-12 victory over JAG. With Dothan ahead 48-6 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Dothan's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Camren Lee-wright, who rushed for 69 yards and a touchdown on only five carries. Dothan also got help from Jalen Corbitt who showed off his sure hands for 90 receiving yards.
Mary G. Montgomery pushed their record up to 10-0 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 Robertsdale and 1-9 Baldwin County (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 32.9% over those games). As for Dothan, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.
