Baseball Recap: Archbishop Hannan Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Archbishop Hannan had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Franklinton Demons a 4-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-5 last Tuesday.

Not much got past Owen Stempel, who gave up just a hit and racked up 11 Ks to keep Franklinton off the board. Stempel also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Archbishop Hannan is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-12 otherwise.

At the plate, Brody Smith and Patrick Kennedy did most of the damage at the plate: Smith scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Kennedy went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most RBI Kennedy has posted over his last 11 matches.

Archbishop Hannan pushed their record up to 12-12 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Franklinton, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Archbishop Hannan will challenge Mandeville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Franklinton, they will square off against Pearl River at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
