San Miguel has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Pusch Ridge Christian Academy Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. San Miguel will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 328th, while the Lions are ranked 89th).
Last Tuesday, San Miguel was beaten by the Sabercats 86-15. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points San Miguel has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Pusch Ridge Christian Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 71-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of Gilbert Christian. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
The losing side was boosted by Issac Hardeman, who scored 18 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Santino Almazan was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
San Miguel dropped their record down to 1-16 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Pusch Ridge Christian Academy, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-9.
San Miguel came up short against the Lions when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 60-54. Can San Miguel avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
