Dayton has gone a perfect 3-0 against Wooster recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Dayton Dust Devils will face off against the Wooster Colts at 10:00 a.m. Dayton is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.
While Dayton didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Smith Valley 9-1 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Dust Devils, who have now won six matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Viliami Tulimafua-Curran looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Dayton let Duke Evans and Ivor Evans run wild. Duke scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Ivor went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Ivor is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as he's now launched at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Ryan Frank also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Wooster won against Fernley on Saturday with four runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. Wooster never let Fernley get on the board and left with a 4-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Colts in their matchups with the Vaqueros: they've now won five in a row.
Wooster also got a great performance from Jett Rotsma as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched.
At the plate, Cody Barb was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two RBI. Edgar Nunez Montano was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Dayton's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.4 runs over those games. As for Wooster, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Wooster's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Dayton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .342. It's a different story for Wooster, though, as they've only averaged .257. Will they be able to contain Dayton's hitters?
Everything went Dayton's way against Wooster when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Dayton made off with a 10-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dayton since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
