Natalee Packard and Brooklynn Hagerty made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Packard didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Hagerty tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Packard has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. At the plate, Packard went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, while Hagerty went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most hits Hagerty has posted since May 7th.
In other batting news, Gracie Risley was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Evie Kitchel also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Logansport always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Peru only posted an OBP of .158.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Western made sure to put some runs up on the board against West Lafayette on Thursday. The Panthers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Red Devils a 14-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 15 games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Lucy George was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. George was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brynley Erb, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Kylie Miller, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Logansport's record now sits at 25-4. As for Western, their record is now 25-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Logansport hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Western struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went Logansport's way against Western in their previous meeting back in April, as Logansport made off with a 10-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Berries since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
