The Colonial Forge Eagles will square off against the Woodbridge Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Colonial Forge took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Mountain View, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles had just enough and edged out the Wildcats 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since April 14th.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Woodbridge). They put the hurt on Freedom with a sharp 33-1 victory on Friday. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Jorja Gregory and Regan Senecal were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Gregory tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Senecal pitched 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Gregory has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Gregory went 2-for-6 with four runs, two RBI, and one double, while Senecal went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles. Those two RBI gave Gregory a new career-high.
In other batting news, Woodbridge got a massive performance out of Mya Foster, who went 4-for-5 with five runs, six RBI, and one triple. Those six RBI gave Foster a new career-high. Bobbi Tate was another key player, going 4-for-6 with six runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Woodbridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Freedom only posted an OBP of .235.
Colonial Forge's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-8. As for Woodbridge, their win bumped their record up to 4-8.
Colonial Forge beat Woodbridge 13-9 when the teams last played back in March. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
