Glenbard West and Lyons are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Hilltoppers will head out on the road to take on the Lions at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. Glenbard West is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Glenbard West fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Downers Grove North on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 6-5. The Hilltoppers have struggled against the Trojans recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Olivia Salerno spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Alexa Trybus was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Ainslie Bobroff was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.
Mother McAuley hit Lyons with a five-run fourth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Lions lost 11-5 to the Mighty Macs. The Lions' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Lucy Dreher made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Isabella Evans also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Glenbard West's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 12-4. As for Lyons, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Glenbard West hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.3 home runs per game. However, it's not like Lyons struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Glenbard West couldn't quite get it done against Lyons in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 6-2. Can the Hilltoppers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
