The Gilbert Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Dobson Mustangs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Gilbert is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
Gilbert came up short against Higley on Thursday, falling 17-10.
Lexie Kyger made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kaiya Imel, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, Dobson made easy work of Mesa on Thursday and carried off a 12-5 victory. Considering the Mustangs have won eight contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Allie Hanson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Emrey Walker was incredible, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly Flick, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Dobson is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Gilbert, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-14.
Gilbert's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's game. The Tigers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Dobson, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Gilbert continue to outrun the ball?
Gilbert got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in March of 2025 against Dobson by a conclusive 11-0 score. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
