Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the St. Thomas More Cougars walked away with it. They breezed by the Eagles at home to the tune of 69-30. The win was just business as usual for St. Thomas More, who after 13 games remain undefeated this season.
Hutch Swilley had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 214 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 13.4 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of John luke St.pierre, who rushed for 113 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries.
When it comes to explaining why Archbishop Shaw lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Mason Wilson. Despite the final result, he rushed for 60 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 183 yards and two touchdowns.
St. Thomas More pushed their record up to 13-0 with that victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Archbishop Shaw, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-3.
St. Thomas More will take on Lafayette Christian Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lafayette Christian Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 428 points over their last eight games. Archbishop Shaw does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
