Mid Valley is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Friday. They will be playing at home against the Old Forge Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m.
Mid Valley couldn't beat Abington Heights on Tuesday even though they stacked five runs on them in the seventh inning. The Spartans fell just short of the Comets by a score of 8-7. The defeat continues a trend for the Spartans in their meetings with the Comets: they've now lost four in a row.
Brett Yanoski and Nick Mills put in work no matter where they played. On the mound, Yanoski pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Meanwhile, Mills pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At the plate, Yanoski got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, while Mills got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, Joey Romanosky was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and one stolen base. Jake Bondy was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Old Forge took care of business in their home opener on Sunday. They walked away with a 9-6 win over Mountain View.
The team relied heavily on Angelo DiMauro, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Wozniak, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Mid Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Old Forge when the teams last played back in April of 2025, sneaking past 5-3. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
