The Fleming Wildcats waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They strolled past Genoa-Hugo/Karval with points to spare, taking the game 47-31. That's another feather in the cap for Fleming, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Madi Serrato was nothing short of spectacular: she scored 20 points along with five rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Ashley Bornhoft was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Genoa-Hugo/Karval's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rylee Corn, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Corn posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Kazlei Vaughn, who scored six points.
Fleming's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for Genoa-Hugo/Karval, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.
