The Morristown-Hamblen East Hurricanes are taking a road trip to challenge the Jefferson County Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Morristown-Hamblen East is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Morristown-Hamblen East will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Cosby on Wednesday. The Hurricanes blew past the Eagles 18-1. The Hurricanes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by seven runs or more this season.
Ella Wampler made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Harmony Sullivan was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hudson Cloninger, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Morristown-Hamblen East always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .677. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Jefferson County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Grainger.
Kayli Reece was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Zoe Lawson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Jefferson County's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Morristown-Hamblen East, they now have a winning record of 7-6-1.
Jefferson County's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Morristown-Hamblen East has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .431. It's a different story for Jefferson County, though, as they've only averaged .322. Will they be able to contain Morristown-Hamblen East's hitters?
Everything went Morristown-Hamblen East's way against Jefferson County in their previous meeting last Tuesday, as Morristown-Hamblen East made off with a 9-1 victory.
