Murphy has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on The Polk County Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Murphy is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Polk County in North Carolina (Murphy is ranked 112th, while Polk County is ranked 279th).
Murphy can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They blew past Cherokee 35-12.
Hunter Stalcup continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 214 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.6 yards per carry. Stalcup was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 63 yards. Another player making a difference was Cameron Clem, who rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries.
Meanwhile, Polk County's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Brevard on the road and fell 49-21. Polk County was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-7.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Keaundrae Green, who picked up 68 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 34 yards and a touchdown on only three passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Antonio Simpson, who picked up 125 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Murphy's victory lifted them to 7-3 while Polk County's defeat dropped them down to 4-6.
