The Pickens Blue Flame posted their biggest win yet this season on Friday. They blew past Berea 71-30 on the road. Given Pickens' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while Berea is ranked 190th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pickens got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Maggie Chambers out in front who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. Chambers is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ava Owens, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Pickens' victory bumped their record up to 13-2. As for Berea, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 3-10.
Pickens will take on Greenwood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Greenwood is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Berea, they will head out on the road to square off against Westside at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Westside is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
