The Orestimba Warriors are taking a road trip to challenge the Atwater Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
On Tuesday, Orestimba made easy work of Hilmar and carried off an 18-7 victory. Considering the Warriors have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Ellery Gustafson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sophia Machado, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Rae Oliveros also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Orestimba always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .694. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Atwater faced off against Central Valley on Friday. The Falcons walked away with a 10-6 win over the Hawks.
Madi Hiler was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Mia Hendrickson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.
Atwater pushed their record up to 21-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Orestimba, their record is now 13-11.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Orestimba hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Atwater struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down. Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
