After three games on the road, Selma is heading back home. They will take on The Kerman Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Selma and Kerman are at an even 4-4 over their past eight MAXFOOTBALL head to heads.
Selma's game on Friday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 15-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Washington Union.
Meanwhile, Kerman had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took their game at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 41-6 victory over Hanford West. Given Kerman's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 382nd, while Hanford West is ranked 911th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kerman's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Adrian Torres, who threw for 142 yards and a touchdown on only 13 passes.
Selma's defeat was their tenth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-1 Central Valley Christian and 9-2 Kingsburg (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 65.1% over those games). As for Kerman, their victory on Friday bumped their record up to 3-5.
Selma took a serious blow against Kerman in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 56-18. Thankfully for Selma, Ashton Chalabian (who rushed for 223 yards and four touchdowns on only 15 carries, and also threw for 38 yards and a touchdown while completing 75% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
