Even though the Calhoun Red Devils have not done well against the Clay County Panthers recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Calhoun enjoyed a cozy 49-35 victory over the Panthers. The win was nothing new for Calhoun as they're now sitting on four straight.
It was another big night for Landon Bennett, who scored 21 points along with six steals and five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Calhoun's points. Another player making a difference was Dylan Buckius, who scored 15 points.
Calhoun now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Clay County, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Calhoun will take on the Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in West Virginia (South Harrison is ranked 111th, while the Red Devils are ranked 101st). As for Clay County, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Titans at 7:45 p.m. on February 6th.
