Holland is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last 11 games she's played dating back to last season. They weren't the only good servers: York was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 21 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in October of 2024.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between Marshwood and Thornton Academy, and Thornton Academy kept the tradition alive. The Hawks fell 3-1 to the Trojans on Thursday. The Hawks haven't had much luck with the Trojans recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
While Marshwood ultimately came up short, they really made Thornton Academy work, particularly in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 27-25, 21-25, 25-13.
Marshwood's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for York, their victory bumped their record up to 7-0.
York took their win against Marshwood when the teams last played back in September of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
