Maxton Bolster was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Manitou Springs is 6-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Bolster was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Trafford Havens was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs. Another player making a difference was Logan Moore, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Manitou Springs was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Falcon had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.1 runs) and they went ahead and made it ten on Saturday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Tigers.
Like Manitou Springs, Falcon also got a great game from a two-way player: Jaxon Schleper. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Schleper has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
In other pitching news, Parker Cordova looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March.
Back at the plate, Talon Chubb was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Manitou Springs pushed their record up to 11-8 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Falcon, their record now sits at 13-3-1.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Manitou Springs has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .460. However, it's not like Falcon struggles in that department as they've averaged .467. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Manitou Springs came out on top in a nail-biter against Falcon in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, sneaking past 8-6. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
